"We had a wonderful one week stay at this very well equipped cottage.  The decorating is coastal in a lovely way.  The location on Herrick Bay is peaceful and the ever changing view is just right."

"Absolutely perfect location and a great place to relax for the week, wishing we were still there. Great host, perfect communication. We will be back!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sea Meadow cottage.  The cottage itself was beautiful and well appointed. The furniture was comfortable and everything was very clean.  The location is gorgeous being right on the bay with amazing views and within an hour of Acadia National Park.  We enjoyed exploring the park, Bar Harbor, Bangor, and other smaller towns nearby.  Mary Louise was responsive when we had questions.  Couldn't recommend more highly and would love to come back to stay again!"

“It’s been difficult to get back to the reality of mowing the lawn, doing laundry, maintaining the gardens, etc., after a wonderful stay at your cottage.  It was exactly the location and type of cottage we have been seeking for years!  We did several walks in the woods, visited Stonington, bought a painting from Randy Eckard (we already have one of his works), and enjoyed the activities on the water, especially two occasions of watching the full operation of a seine netter finding a school of fish, setting his net, and pulling up the net with thousands of fish, and also watching an adult and a juvenile bald eagle fly by every day.  Thanks for letting others share this beautiful place.  We had a wonderful time.”

"Very clean, comfortable cottage with amazing views of ocean!  Steps to private beach. Owner very nice and informative! Can't wait to go back!"

August 2019 - by a guest from Connecticut

"We can’t recommend Sea Meadow Cottage highly enough. Its location is utterly stunning, with astonishing sea and mountain views - you could stay in all day watching the light change and the seals playing in the water and listening to the birds. It’s so incredibly peaceful and beautiful, and the cottage itself is generously and comfortably equipped and furnished. But the wider area is wonderful too, with much to explore and discover - from Acadia National Park to the little towns of Blue Hill and Brooklin, and coastal walks and sea swimming. All round, a magical place...."

"[We] had a really good time. The cottage is so charming and well appointed. You have thought of everything. What a wonderful location.  Having morning coffee with that view was amazing! ... We are so looking forward to next year."

"We had such a wonderful week up here.  The cottage is homey and comfortable.  We plan to come back next year the same week if it is available.  Such a wonderful oasis.  Thank you so much!

"Our stay at Sea Meadow was absolutely wonderful! We've already talked about how we will definitely be back next year - it was perfect for our small family, and we were amazed at all the wildlife we saw from the back deck. It is really a magical place and we were so thrilled to share in it."

"I just wanted to write to tell you how very much we loved our stay in your home.  What a beautiful spot!  I'm not sure I can express how much I adored looking out over the ocean like that.  I woke early to watch the sun rise and I stood at the window at night to see the moonlight ripple across the ocean.  We loved swimming and kayaking and paddle boarding.  We hiked.  We visited Acadia.  Everyone we met was incredibly nice.  It was really a dreamy vacation.  The house was wonderful and very well appointed.  Thank you so much."

August 2018 - by a guest from New York

"The most special spot. Couldn’t have been more perfect on all fronts, and we look forward to returning next summer! Immaculate, cozy, with views to die for. Highly, highly recommend."

August 2018 - by a guest from New York

"Now that we are home,  I want to thank you very much.  We had a lovely time at Sea Meadow.  You have created a beautiful home in a beautiful spot.  I am an early morning person, so it was a particularly wonderful place for me, because I was able to meditate, walk, and take in all the bird and ocean views that the early morning had to offer each day. I loved it all."

August 2018 - by a guest from New Hampshire

"We had a wonderful stay. The view was spectacular and the house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and fun. Plus Mary Louise was very helpful and gave us a ton of information to help us navigate the area. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!"

"My husband and I chose Sea Meadow for our 25th wedding anniversary getaway. We couldn’t have been more pleased! This is the quintessential Maine cottage of your dreams. The beautiful views of Mt. Desert Island are simply breathtaking. The cottage is beautifully appointed with every comfort, including a perfectly stocked kitchen. Sea Meadow is also a good jumping-off point for visiting Acadia National Park and charming local towns. The property is very private and quiet. And having your own private beach on which to hunt for rocks and shells is a big bonus! We are already looking forward to our next visit to Maine and this lovely cottage."

July 2018 - by a guest from Michigan

"The cottage was exactly what we were looking for!  My husband and I gave each other a 'high five' when we first entered it."

September 2017 - by a guest from Connecticut

"Sea Meadow Cottage was beautiful and well-equipped and the oceanfront views were stunning!  We had a great time at your wonderful cottage. ... I can imagine how you fell in love with the area when you began vacationing here 15 years ago.  The Maine Coast is a special place."

July 2017 - by a guest from Pennsylvania

"My husband and I stayed at Sea Meadow the second week of September.  What a wonderful time of year to visit the Maine coast...warm days and cooler nights.  It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting on the deck enjoying the view or walking the shoreline at low tide.  We explored the surrounding area and ate fantastic seafood.  The cottage was perfect...very clean...and supplied with all the comforts of home.  We hope to return next year."

September 2016 - by a guest from New Hampshire

"My husband and I stayed at Sea Meadow and were very happy with everything! You are right on the water and the 180 degree views of the bay, lighthouse and Cadillac Mountain are incredible. The cottage was beautiful, clean and very well cared for. We had wonderful meals at a few of the local restaurants. It is very convenient to the Wooden Boat School and a great place to stay if you are thinking of taking courses there. We will definitely be back next year!"

September 2016 - by a guest from New Jersey

"I stayed at Sea Meadow with my husband and daughters (6 & 8), and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The cottage is perfect with great attention to detail, and the views of the water are stunning. We loved exploring the beach just steps from the porch and the girls loved collecting treasures (shells and rocks). The decor is lovely and the cottage is very comfortable. We explored Brooklin and the neighboring towns and cannot wait to return. Mary Louise was a pleasure to deal with, provided helpful information about the area, and even called to check on us. We would definitely recommend Sea Meadow to anyone looking in this area for the perfect cottage."

July 2016 - by a guest from Louisiana

"We've been vacationing on Penobscot Bay for many years and doubted anything could surpass its beauty until we pulled down the driveway to “Sea Meadow.” Truly, a breath-taking moment! The cottage, inside and out, was also spectacular. The attention to detail and the design of the cottage could not be more perfect. All of the previous reviews are completely accurate without any exaggeration. If you are looking for a great place to relax and enjoy Down East Maine, this is the place."

July 2016 - by a guest from Massachusetts

"My husband and our two daughters (ages 3 and 5) stayed here for a week in the end of June.  We wanted a quiet comfortable spot to relax and explore the Maine Coast and found exactly that. The owners' decor and attention to details for its guests - of all ages - is impeccable.  Our daughters spent every morning looking for sea glass on the beach, just steps away from the cottage. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises on the deck and relaxing and reading on the cozy furniture in the evening.

Brooklin, Maine is a great location for exploring the many Down East towns, it was easy to get to Bar Harbor/Acadia, Deer Isle and Blue Hill from our central location.  We felt incredibly at home and comfortable in the house and look forward to returning in future years."

June 2016 - by a guest from New Hampshire

"My wife and I come to Maine every year and decided to try staying in the Brooklin area.  We loved "Sea Meadow Cottage." It was perfect for us with it's spectacular views and classic Maine cottage feel.  We felt right at home.  It is equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay an enjoyable one.  We highly recommend this property and plan on returning next year."

June 2016 - by a guest from South Carolina

"My husband and I stayed at Sea Meadow for a week this summer when he took a course at the Wooden Boat School.  While he was pretty much gone from sun up to sun down, Sea Meadow was the perfect spot for me.  Private, yet not isolated, I felt very comfortable there on my own and hope to return one day.  Besides Blue Hill there are other lovely towns nearby to explore while you're in the area.

Everything the other renters have said about the property is true without exaggeration.  The view is gorgeous!  Attention to detail is tastefully given to the decor and amenities.  Yes, even the bunk beds are comfortable.  I never had any problems with internet service, and there is a land line available so you're well connected in addition to your cell phones.

Mary Louise is a wonderful hostess and sincerely wants you to enjoy your stay.  Like the other reviewer said, it definitely is easy to recommend Sea Meadow."

August 2015 - by a guest from Pennsylvania

"My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Sea Meadow this August.  The cottage is immaculate, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable.  Mary Louise has anticipated every imaginable need, from comfortable beds and furniture, to a wonderfully equipped kitchen, to entertainment possibilities, to ways of enjoying the stunning vistas, to thoughtful suggestions of activities in the area.  The setting on Blue Hill Bay is very peaceful and extraordinarily beautiful.  We especially loved eating/sitting on the deck and observing the play of light on the water, walking the beach, looking at the night sky, and, perhaps most amazing of all, experiencing the sunrises.  The Blue Hill Peninsula area is a special place to visit, and to be able to stay in such a lovely home is a gift.  We hope very much to return."

July 2015 - by a guest from New York

"My wife and I stayed for a week and quite simply, everything was perfect!  My wife grew up on the ocean and missed smelling the salt air and listening to the waves and sea birds.  Sea Meadow provided that and much more.  It was a private and relaxing stay.  Everything we could have wanted was provided and the cottage is in perfect condition.  We had the opportunity to relax when we wanted to, but there are also many things to do and see in the area.  All of the local residents are extremely welcoming and we made many friends during our stay!  We look forward to returning one day!"

July 2015 - by a guest from Michigan

"My husband and I stayed at "Seameadow" in June of 2015 and we cannot say enough good things about this lovely vacation rental.  It is tastefully decorated, comfortable, spacious and stocked with anything you might need for the week.  This was our first time in Maine so we made our way over to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, both of which are just an hour from Brooklin.  We also enjoyed several days just relaxing at the house.  We have already recommended this home to our friends and family.  If you decided to make this your vacation destination (and I highly recommend that you do!), do not miss the opportunity to star gaze."

June 2015 - by a guest from Indiana

"We had a great week here with our two teenage children.  What a spectacular view to see every morning!  The house is well stocked with all you need to make your stay here comfortable and enjoyable.  We watched movies, played games, walked the beach, and explored all the surrounding towns.  My daughter and I baked cookies in the VERY well-stocked kitchen.  Mary Louise is an excellent hostess with lots of information for surrounding sights and eats.  THANK YOU!!!"

June 2015 - by a guest from Florida

"Sea Meadow is a lovely and immaculately kept home, in a spectacular setting on the edge of Blue Hill Bay.  The first morning of our stay, a school of Harbour porpoises swam through, close to shore, and throughout our stay, birdlife was abundant.  The call of a loon at dusk is an experience not to be missed in this lifetime.  Sea Meadow cottage is in a very private location, but only minutes away from the Wooden Boat School in nearby Brooklin, and puts all of the eastern arm of Penobscot Bay within easy reach.  It is the nicest vacation rental we have ever stayed in, and we look forward to returning!"

September 2014 - by a guest from Vermont

"My husband and I had a perfect week with two of our adult children at Sea Meadow Cottage.  The cottage was immaculate but cozy, and we felt at home at once.  Inside we played cards, watched movies, and had some wonderful meals, all cooked in the pristine, fully-equipped kitchen.  Outside we enjoyed playing Frisbee on the lawn and having snacks on the deck while soaking in the amazing view.  We took walks on the beach and did a lot of kayaking directly from the cottage.  We already have a framed picture that we took from the deck of the sun rising over Bernard Mountain.  We cannot imagine a more perfect place to spend a vacation."

August 2014 - by a guest from Virginia

"My family had a wonderful time staying at the beautiful Sea Meadow Cottage.  My boys had fun exploring the tide pools and beachcombing for shells and sea glass while we took in the view of the Maine coast.  We enjoyed hiking up to the church, playing Maine Monopoly, and going for ice cream at the Brooklin General Store.  It was a peaceful and relaxing vacation.  The cottage was very comfortable and clean.  It was a great place to come back to after exploring the small towns of Maine and Acadia NP.  The cottage was equipped with everything that a family needs to feel at home.  The beds were VERY comfortable.  We will definitely be back.  Thank you for your hospitality Mary Louise."

"We spent two weeks at Sea Meadow & loved it.  The setting was magnificent, the cottage beautiful, comfortable, well equipped & maintained.  The owner left a book with suggestions for sightseeing, dining, etc. (very helpful).  This s a property that is easy to recommend.  The grounds are very beautiful & I find it hard to believe that the deer don't eat the day lilies."

July 2014 - by a guest from Connecticut

"Aside from the breathtaking views -- especially spectacular at sunrise, but always beautiful -- the cottage is totally charming.  We have rented many vacation homes, and this cottage was one of the most thoughtfully equipped, decorated and landscaped.  If you like to cook, you will not lack for anything you might need.  The red, white and blue decor is very tasteful and the beds, sofas and chairs were very comfortable.  And whether it's coffee or cocktails you enjoy on the deck (or both), you can't help but be enveloped in total serenity and peacefulness as you enjoy the waters of Blue Hill Bay a stone's throw away.  And if you like a rural view for a change, sit on the deck on the west side of the house and enjoy the flowering meadow.  Really, this is a special place and a return visit will be in order!  Thanks for a most memorable vacation."

"The photos on the website simply do not do justice to this beautifully furnished and well-equipped cottage.  The views of Blue Hill Bay are spectacular!  We especially enjoyed seeing the wildlife at sunrise each morning.  We were able to spend time in all three sections of Acadia National Park during our stay.  The highlight was island hopping from Isle au Haut to Stonington via kayak.  Sea Meadow Cottage provided the perfect setting for me to celebrate my retirement!"

August 2013 - by a guest from Virginia

"My family and I recently returned from a second stay at Sea Meadow.  I cannot begin to explain how much we LOVE IT THERE!!  The house is beautiful, setting stunning.  Every detail has been considered when furnishing this home - it is a very comfortable, serene, accommodating space to spend some time.  The yard is especially perfect for my family.  We have two young children, who began every morning running around in the yard, as my husband and I relaxed on the porch, sipping coffee while staring into the beautiful Blue Hill Bay.  And if you're an early riser, the sunrises are like nothing you've ever seen.  We cannot wait to go back!"

"The photos do not do this amazing property justice.  This location is absolutely stunning.  The home is very comfortable and has everything you need for a week - or longer - on the Maine coast.  My kids loved running around the backyard and exploring the rocky beach.  We had a wonderful stay, and we are planning to return.  Thank you!"

"Once in a great while, when we're really fortunate in life, we get to experience a time and place of true perfection - a place in which we would not change one thing or wish for a single missing piece - a time of total peace and contentment.  Our time at Sea Meadow was all of that, for both of us.  From the moment we drove down the driveway and the cottage (plus the amazing view beyond it!) came into view, we were both pinching ourselves - hard to believe that such a magical place would be 'ours' for a week!  You and Kent have overlooked nothing in providing for the comfort of your guests, and your attention to quality and detail is evident throughout the house.  We were cozy and comfortable - we both agree, it felt like home.  This spectacular stretch of coastline with the Blue Hill lighthouse, all the islands, the lobstermen tending their traps out front, the friendliness of virtually everyone we met all kept us smiling.  Dinner at Arborvine on our final evening was delicious - a perfect close to the week.  Our dream and hope is to return to Sea Meadow within the next year or two."

September 2012 - by a guest from Washington

"My family of four stayed in the cottage this August and we were overwhelmed by the beauty of it all.  Inside, the cottage was perfectly decorated and had every amenity you could wish for.  The owner was very gracious and responded quickly to every one of my inquiries from the time of booking to the minute of our arrival.  Outside, the privacy and the view were unmatched by any of the other properties we drove past on our way to and from Acadia for five days of our stay.  Our only regret is that we did not make this a two-week vacation!  Thank you, Mary Louise!"

August 2012 - by a guest from Florida

"We arrived late at night at Sea Meadow Cottage and were instantly charmed and delighted by the tasteful decor and cleanliness.  But the real beauty wasn't seen until the next morning when we were able to enjoy the spectacular views across the bay of beautiful Mount Desert Island and the story-book like Blue Hill Bay lighthouse, the sounds of the lobster boats going out for their daily catch and, of course the ever changing water and sky.  Views we never tired of during our entire stay.

Sea Meadows had everything we needed to make this the perfect home base:  a well kitted out kitchen, interesting dvds, games and books for "at home" entertainment and access to a washer/dryer --- all greatly appreciated.  The beds were comfortable and the storage space for luggage and clothes worked perfectly.  The large living room/dining area windows that looked out over the bay provided spectacular viewing in all kinds of weather, as did the deck, complete with chaise lounges, chairs and tables.

Visitors really need 2 weeks at Sea Meadow cottage.  One week dedicated to rest and relaxation, with strolls to the end of the point (with a stop at historic Naskeag cemetery), a walk to the campus of WoodenBoat School, a quick trip to the village for "necessities" (a gift shop in Brooklin has an excellent selection of regional books), a Thursday visit to the summer Farmer's Market.  Another week to spend exploring towns like Rockland (a must for art devotees of the Wyeth Family), trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor, visits to Deer Isle.  It's no wonder that we want to return to "our" cottage for more Maine Adventure!

Everyone who has seen our vacation pictures envies our good luck in finding such a perfect home and we have been recommending Sea Meadow to family and friends."

July 2012 - by a guest from Michigan

"A friend and I stayed at this charmer in mid-August and loved the house and grounds.  Among the highlights - owner bought a lobster pot per my request, lovely deck overlooking ocean and windows from inside with same view (at night amazing night sky views), steps leading down to beach ..., book for guests with helpful info on local places/doings, secluded road so house extremely quiet, lovely, tasteful and comfortable furnishings with several couches, chairs, (even great books and good sound system), incredibly clean.  The owner answered all questions and was supportive and friendly.  House has master bedroom, and two bedrooms with bunkbeds, two rooms with sitting areas, dining area, well-appointed kitchen.  Nearby are a renowned boat-building school, farmers' markets, hikes, beaches, parks, a local lobsterman (Randy w/live lobster $4/lb), wonderful little towns like Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Castine, Brooksville, and a little further afield Schoodic Point (northern part of Acadia National Park).  We even discovered a goat farm, Sunset Acres in Brooksville, that makes delicious cheeses like Camembert, wonderful crafts people throughout the area, and a local store, the Cave, with terrific breads and other gastronomic delights and gift items.  Other local stores also had gift items and fresh picked blueberries.  My friend and I wish to return next year, for sure, perhaps with another friend.  We'd like to do more exploring.  Well-worth the price.  Highly recommended.  We had a wonderful time.  About 3 1/2 hours N. of Portland.  Might be worth bringing bikes and a kayak."

August 2011 - by a guest from Utah

"My husband and I discovered the Blue Hill region 10 years ago and have been coming back every year since.  The views, weather, Blue Hill Fair, fresh seafood, people, hiking trails, sailing and the ability to relax in a beautiful, comfortable cottage are just some of the reasons why our 9 year old son now appreciates why we keep returning.

We found Sea Meadows in 2009 and spent our third visit there in August.  Everything we need is right there, just as the listing describes - right down to the amazing views.  The past two years we've actually had to rearrange our plans due to back to back hurricanes.  The owners were extremely accommodating in both instances - giving us ample warning of what to expect and reimbursing us when we weren't able to stay as planned.

We discover something different every time we visit this region.  The most recent discovery was at the Brooklin Inn where we were able to get a 'customized' dinner order of Chicken Tenders for our son - we're looking forward to the day when he will select one of the many wonderful choices offered on their menu!

Sea Meadows is truly a beautiful place and we look forward to returning.  Thank you for sharing your home with us!

August 2011 - by a guest from Massachusetts

"My husband and I spent a week at Sea Meadow and enjoyed it immensely - the fog, rain, sunshine, lobster boats and even saw a deer in the meadow.  My only regret was that we couldn't stay another week.

The cottage met the description and more.  Everything that we needed was there for us to use.  The 'backyard' and steps leading down to the shore were my favorite place to be whenever we were not out exploring the rest of the peninsula and beyond.  Would return again to just sit and enjoy the shore and the view."

June 2011 - by a guest from Colorado

"We were really blown away by this vacation property.  The house was impeccably outfitted, and I ended up not using any of the pans, knives and spices that I had brought with me because they were already there!  Our girls adored the bunk beds....  We loved the privacy of the beach, and how thoughtful everything was - from the binoculars, puzzles, to sailing charts and skewers for s'mores.  The decorating touches were elegantly maritime-themed.  It's about 10 minutes from the cottage into town, and the town beach is one mile down the road, an easy bike ride."

August 2010  by a guest from New York

"I just wanted to send you this letter because our family had such a wonderful, happy vacation in Maine and most especially in your lovely cottage.  My family has deep roots in Blue Hill and knows the region well.  We could not have had a more PERFECT vacation.  The weather was stupendous, the cottage exceeded all of our needs and expectations and the peacefulness that transcended all of us was priceless.  My father wants to come back, as do we all, to your cottage ... the best place by far that we have ever rented."

August 2010 - by a guest from Maryland

"We really have enjoyed our stay at Sea Meadow Cottage.  Your home here in Brooklin is a truly lovely place.  Because we had absolutely pristine weather during our visit we were able to sit out on the deck each morning and evening and watch the constantly evolving color and light across Blue Hill Bay.  We didn't feels if we needed to travel very far because everything was perfect right here.  Thank you so much for allowing us the privilege of sharing your beautiful seaside cottage!"

August 2010 - by a guest from Connecticut

"Location is spectacular!  The setting took my breath away when we first stepped out of the car.  The house itself was a wonderful surprise.  Everything was clean and crisp and tastefully decorated.  The owners did not skimp in any way.  The appliances, pots and pans, linens, etc. were top notch.  If you want to be in a beautiful place, with lovely views and the water right outside your back door then rent this house.  We loved it.
